The Dairy is a very budget friendly Pack Holidays option.  So if you don’t want lots of little luxuries and you would like a more basic option this is a perfect choice.

The Dairy is situated in a quiet location, just 10 minutes walk from the centre of the bustling market town of North Walsham where many dog friendly cafe and pubs can be found. There is a little field walk accessed from right outside the gate. Witton Woods is accessible on foot and our wonderful beaches are just a 10 minute drive. The quieter beaches are very dog friendly. The Norfolk Broads are a short 10 minute drive away and there are a number of boat hire companies who welcome dogs on board.

Location & Directions

Address: The Dairy, Marshgate House, Marshgate Lane, North Walsham, Norfolk, NR28 9EF
From the A1151 from Norwich, turn left onto the A149 signposted to Cromer and North Walsham. Follow this road for 5 miles until you arrive at North Walsham. At the first set of traffic lights, turn right to go into North Walsham town. At the roundabout, take the second exit, (with Paston College on your left). At the next roundabout take the first exit (Roys on your left and Lidls on your right). Follow the road past the Post Office and Library (New Road) and at the next bend in the road, take the left turn into Pound Road. Follow this road going straight on at the crossroads (Manor Road school on your right hand side). After the crossroads, the road turns into Marshgate. Go over several speed bumps and after the road bends to the right, there is a right hand turn with a white cottage at the corner. Take this right hand turn (which is still Marshgate). The Dairy is accessed through the very large black gates on the right hand side of the road attached to the black fronted Norfolk brick building. The gate is large and requires a handle to be turned to open, then the gate pushed to access the courtyard. If you have any concerns questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us

We have had a lovely comfortable stay ay the Dairy. Very clean and warm. Great for the 3 dogs in the secure court yard. Good area for exploring the lovely dog friendly beaches and Bacton woods offers a goof circular walk. Walk into the market town takes around 10 mins. Bluebell pub is to the right on the main street from the Dairy. Dog friendly pubs in the town. Very friendly locals.

  2. Sharon Steve and Blake

Another fantastic stay at the The Dairy with our Collie, Blake. Fantastic beaches, Happisburgh, Horsey, Trimmingham and Mundesley. All super dog friendly places. Another great pub lunch at the Nelson’s Head before seeing the seals at Horsey. The Ship Inn at Mundesley also provided a fantastic lunch along with fabulous views from the cliff top..

Thanks Gail, Simon and Felicity for another great stay, just what we needed after shielding until August 1st.

  3. Liz and Kim

Wonderful week with my two young border collies. They’d have been happy spending the whole week at Bacton beach but we did visit a number of places. Loved Winterton beach and Cromer. Our last day spent exploring Bacton Wood and cleaning the sand out of our car. Hahahahaha. Tonight a last trip to Bacton we think. Wonderful sunny courtyard and the dogs loved it here too! We’ll be back.
PS We live in Kent so the guys rarely get a sandy beach day.

  4. Jan and Warwick and Mo

We loved our stay and so did Mo, our Border Terrier. Bacton Woods was great for walks and so were the beaches. The Beechwood Hotel had a delicious afternoon tea. Highly recommend. The Dairy has everything you need to having an iron and ironing board, torch and even dog biscuits! A comfy place to stay, which we loved. Than you

  5. Joanne & Dean Stanley, Chilli, Taquito, Tequilla, Taco & Coco

Had a wonderful week at The Dairy, with our 5 chihauahuas, the welcome packs for us and the doggys were a lovely surprise, the dogs enjoyed their cookies as did we!

We’ve had some lovely trips out to Bacton woods, Walcot beach, Horsey beach, Blickling Hall & Sheringham Park, Poppylands and The Lighthouse Inn are fabulous food.

The seals at Horsey beach were amazing to see.

    Mundesley beach is absoloutely beautiful.

We’ve packed a lot into our week and loved every minute, thanks to Pack Holidays and the Dairy, we’ll definitely be back.

Thank you for another wondeful stay in The Dairy (our 3rd) clean & welcoming as always.

Lovely cookies for us & Dog biscuits for the 3 fluffy bums.

Venture to new parts this time but always looked forward to comeing bakc “Home” to The Dairy.

Ventured to Winterton on Sea, Bacton Beach, Sea Palling, numerous walks in Bacton woods, lunch twice at Buckingham Arms @ Blicking, and East Runton for amazing fish & chips @ Will’s Plaice, highly recommended. Couple of walks into town, market worth a visit on a Thursday and The Shambles Cafe always a good welcome for dogs and hoomans.

A huge thanks again to Gail and owners for allowing us to stay in this small but perfect little place.

    Until next time

  8. The Hollidges xxx

4th Trip to Marshgate for us (2nd to the Dairy), loved it once again. The dogs love the new & exciting smells. We do lead walks on the pavements, off lead runs along the canal & woods. They are exhausted every night (as are we!). The walk from North Walsham to Aylsham along The Weavers Way was lovely. We had fish & Chips & planned to get the Bure Valley Steam Train to Wroxham but sadly it doesn’t run on a Monday in October. We also went to Happisburgh owls. It was fab, you get to hold and touch numerous ownls and learn so much about them. Please do pay them a visit.

Time to pack & leave for home but we are already looking forward to March 2022.

1st time at the Diary, a lovely cottage. Very secure for the dogs.

Lots to see and do, plenty of long walks, the dogs are absolutely shattered. Humans pretty tired as well!!!

Many thanks to one and all.

  10. Ann Caldwell

Really liked the layout of The Dairy with the safe enclosed courtyard which meant could easily keep an eye on the dogs, even at night! Visited lots of beaches locally and would definitely stay again.

    Thanks

  11. Lauraine & Leigh, plus Blue, Oliver & Rosie

Our first stay at the Dairy and we all had a lovely time. Small but perfectly formed. The Dairy has everything you need and the dogs love the courtyard. Such easy access to the lovely beaches. We did Walcott to Happisburgh, Bacton woods, Cromer (The King’s Head loves dogs!)

Sad to be going home, but both us and the dogs need a rest!

Thanks also to the owners for the quick response when we couldn’t work out how to turn up the heating.

I am sure we will be back

  12. Deborah, David & Bonnie 🐾

We have had a lovely week with the weather improving all the time. The Dairy has been a great base to explore many areas of North Norfolk as it is so central. We have been to Cley, Blakeney & Wells-Next-The-Sea and, Sea Palling, Happisburgh and Winterton-on-Sea to the East. Bonnie is now a connoisseur of various dog treats from the Beach Cafe at Wells to Small Sticks at Cart Gap. We had to stop at Happisburgh to buy some Nero’s treats to take home and popped into Aylsham for some chocolate delights for us from Carousel Chocolates.

Thank you for a lovely week.

  13. Rob, Linda, – Max, Alphie, Izzy, Flynn and Ellie

Lovely cottage, perfect for the dogs and their owners. Great walks along the canal and beaches, another Pack Holiday booked for June, can’t wait.

  14. Leah, Sam – Mollie 🐾, Jake 🐾, Maple 🐾

2nd visit to The Dairy, only 6 months ago – the 1st. Feels like home as you walk in the gate. Everything is clean. North Walsham is a great town, we visited the beautiful St Nicholas’ Church, we know the areas surrounding very well. Dune’s cafe is a just – the cakes are out of this world, then up the road to Horsey windpump. We visited many beaches, Bacton Woods, and will return next year.

    Lovely stay as always

  15. Elaine, Alastair, Cisco and Cleo

Our first stay at The Dairy and we loved it. It’s our dogs first holiday and it was ideal for them. Cleo loved the space of the courtyard for playing. The whole area is very dog friendly. We loved Holkham beach, Overstrand (and it’s lovely cafe there), Cart Gap and Smallsticks Cafe and Bacton Woods. We will definitely be back

  16. Linda and Howard

Really enjoyed our week here. Milly and Buster (our two Jack Russells) loved the courtyard. Had some lovely walks in nearby Pigney Woods. Had a leisurely walk up to the Bluebell Pub. Food was very good and staff friendly. There are plenty of wonderful National Trusts to visit – Blickling Estate, Felbrigg Hall and Sheringham Park to name a few. Also went to Cromer. There are lots of areas the dogs are allowed on the beach. Then all enjoyed a massive ice cream. Would love to come back to The Dairy!

  17. Andrea, Paige, Cassie, Luna, Harley, Violet and Nancy

Amazing!! We loved this little gem!! Thank you for the cookies and biscuits! Brilliant for our 5 golden retrievers! The courtyard for the dogs was ideal! Super safe so we could relax and enjoy watching them all play. Visited Cromer, Great Yarmouth, Wells Next the Sea, all super friendly doggy places.. We will definitely return with the dogs. Thank you to the owners!!

  18. Lynne and Riley

First visit and perfect spot for me and my dog. Safe, comfortable and with lovely welcome treats – thank you!

A wonderful quiet location for taking time out of busy lives and switching off. Visit to Bacton Woods and local beaches never cease to please.

Hope to be back. Thank you!

  19. Carol, David, Dill and Betsy

Thank you so much for a lovely stay. The Dairy is beautifully safe and comfortable. Thanks also for the cookies and dog treats, they were greatly enjoyed. We had some lvoely trips out – the beach at Bacton is close and we enjoyed a wonderful evening walk along it with our two rescue (Rommies) Betsy and Dill It’s a 10 min drive, the car park is free after 6pm and it’s not at all crowded. We have really enjoyed our break here.

  20. Wilf, Chris, Alfie and Pickles xxx

First break away since the ‘Second Lockdown’ and we couldn’t fault it. Had a wonderful time, the weather was very kind. We loved Cromer and Mundesley, the walk from Winterton to Hemsby brought back happy memories of family holidays. We also discovered Horsey Windmill, a beautiful spot.
Many thanks to Gail for her superb organisation and kindness. We have 2 more Pack Holidays booked this year.
    Love
