Les Rossignols — A Secluded Sanctuary in the Heart of France 🇫🇷🐾
Welcome to Les Rossignols (The Nightingales), a charming detached gite where the only “noise” is the birdsong and the rustle of red squirrels. Sarah has created a true haven for “The Pack,” featuring a 1.6m–2m secure garden and miles of waymarked trails right from the front door (with maps provided!). Whether you are lounging in the rocking double bed or exploring medieval castles with your dog, this is French living at its most welcoming.

The Vibe 🧘♀️ Les Rossignols is located in a tiny, peaceful hamlet of only four houses. It is an incredibly low-trigger environment where the main distractions are the local nightingales and red squirrels.Secure Space 🔒 The garden is fully enclosed with fencing and gates ranging from 1.6m to over 2m in height. Sarah has even reinforced the hedges with stock netting to ensure a solid physical barrier for your peace of mind.Quiet Walks 🌳 There is no need to navigate busy streets or crowded parks. You have immediate access to miles of waymarked, off-road trails and woodland tracks directly from the front door. Maps are provided in the cottage so you can find the quietest routes.Controlled Environment 🏰 While the property is very peaceful, the local area is also surprisingly reactive-friendly. With un-posh castles and a dog-friendly zoo nearby, you can enjoy French culture without the stress of no dogs allowed signs or cramped indoor spaces.

Cottage Details (For Hoomans & Hounds) 🏠
The Living Space 🛋️ The 120m² interior is designed for easy, practical living. The kitchen is stocked with all the essentials—coffee, oils, and fresh herbs from the garden. You’ll even find a mini-veg patch with tomatoes and courgettes for you to pick! The spacious living room is designed for comfort, with ample seating for all guests, a Smart TV with UK and French FreeSat, a DVD player, and a selection of board games. (Please login to Netflix / Amazon with your own account) A traditional stone fireplace with log burner adds warmth and atmosphere on cooler days (logs provided). French doors open onto the terrace, while large windows offer lovely views across the peaceful valley.
The modern, fully equipped kitchen makes self-catering easy and enjoyable, with an oven, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, and coffee maker. A full range of cookware, crockery, glassware, and cutlery is provided. An additional large fridge-freezer and washing machine are located in the utility area.
A convenient ground-floor shower room with WC and walk-in shower completes the downstairs accommodation.

The Garden (The Secure Zone) 🔒 Sarah has gone to great lengths to ensure security. The garden is fenced to a minimum of 1.6m, reaching over 2m in places. Hedges are reinforced with stock netting, and the garden gates are solid and secure.

Zoo Parc Beauval: 🦒 A full day trip to the best zoo in France—and you can take your dogs!
Sarzay Chateau: 🏰 A "proper" castle where dogs are welcome to tour the inside with you.
Chateau Ainay le Viel: 🌳 Beautiful grounds where dogs are welcome on leads.
- Sidialles: Where you can find a cafe, canoes, high ropes (dogs not allowed on the beach in high season)
Local Markets: 🥖 Chateaumeillant (Friday) and the huge La Chatre market (Saturday).
- Eating Out: Do try Le Chapitrie where 3-4 nights each week there are local food trucks to enjoy, whilst having a lovely glass of wine at Le Chapitrie. Or pop along to Le Champ de Foire where doings are welcome. If you fancy a bit of up market dining do try Goutte Noir

Can my dogs go in the swimming pool? 🏊♂️ For hygiene, dogs are not allowed in the main pool, but Sarah provides a solid baby pool specifically for canine cooling!
How secure is the fence? 🔒 Very! It ranges from 1.6m to 2m, with reinforced netting and a removable trellis on the front gate to ensure even the jumpy ones stay put.
What do I need to bring? 🧼 Very little! All linens, towels (including pool towels), and basic kitchen/cleaning supplies are provided.
Are the local walks quiet? 🌳 Yes! There is a huge folder of maps for waymarked trails right from the hamlet, mostly on off-road tracks.
Do I need a pet passport? 🛂 Yes, traveling from the UK to France requires a pet passport or an Animal Health Certificate (AHC). Many of our "Pack" members who have rescue dogs from the EU find this a very simple process!
What is the "shoulder season" like? 🍂 Spring (May/June) and Autumn (September/October) are actually the best times to visit! The weather is much milder for the dogs, the ferries are often cheaper, and the local tracks are incredibly quiet.
Are there extra charges for cleaning or dogs? 💰 No! In true Pack Holidays style, your dogs stay for free, and Sarah includes the final cleaning and all linen in the price you see. 🧼✨
