I love it when our owners have a wee chat, tell us all about themselves and generally, getting to know people is fabulous, right?

This blog is all about Sue and Sean who own Ha’Penny Cottage in Trunch. Absolutely lovely owners, who work so so hard to make sure all our guests have the most fantastic time on the holidogs

Here is what Sue said about their journey to opening HaPenny Cottage as a dog welcoming holiday cottage!

”It was having two ‘firework/phobic’ dogs’ that firstly led us to become frequent visitors to Norfolk – we enjoyed many firework free holidays in Oct and Nov in various Norfolk locations! Our westies, Dougie & Pebbles love the quiet country life  and although Dougie is now deaf, it still makes for a much more relaxing Autumn for us!

Who knew that it would even lead us to having our own country pad that we loved so much we wanted to share it with others and their canine companions.

Ha’penny Cottage is in the beautiful peaceful village of Trunch which we fell in love with immediately. We absolutely adore the fact that it has everything we need on the doorstep, from a village pub serving great food and guest ales to a mediaeval Church which doubles up as a cinema showing great movies and even the best ballets! Supermarkets from Lidl and Sainsburys to Waitrose and even raw pet food suppliers are only a very short drive away in North Walsham. Add to that, the excellent vets are down the road. So for Sean and I, it’s the best of both worlds as it is so quiet and relaxing – we have the darkest night skies for stargazing! But we never need to miss our suburban home in North Leeds with such wide ranging facilities close at hand.

Ha’penny Cottage is only 12 years old so the upkeep has been relatively straightforward – changes we have made have been a new, contemporary bathroom upstairs and a newly fitted wc downstairs. The rest has been purely cosmetic which we have very much enjoyed. Improvements are always constant though but we are hoping for some slightly less frantic visits this season which leaves all the more for our guests to enjoy! ”
