Romantic Studio Retreat | Glass-Topped Interior Well | Stunning Lakeland Views
The Dairy is the jewel in the crown for couples and solo travellers to Brackenthwaite Farm. This beautifully designed studio apartment oozes character, but the real “showstopper” is the almost full-wall windows that frame a magnificent outlook towards the Old Man of Coniston in the Lake District. It is a space designed for slow mornings and atmospheric evenings, featuring a unique glass-covered water well set into the floor that lights up at night, casting shimmering patterns across the high ceilings. 🥂🏔️✨

Reactive Dog Guide
The Dairy offers a very peaceful retreat, but its layout has specific features for reactive dog owners to note:Visual Triggers: The spectacular wall-to-wall windows offer incredible views, but they also mean your dog may see movement in The Orchard and the people / other animals passing by. There are blinds that can be closedShared Setting: Located next to The Old Farmhouse, you will occasionally see other guests, or Matthew or Harry moving through the courtyard and communal areas. The Orchard: While you overlook this wonderful 2.5-acre secure space, please remember it is shared with the other three cottages on the farm plus the residents and their dogs. The Water Well: The illuminated indoor well is a beautiful feature, but the sound of moving water beneath the glass might be a new sensory experience for a particularly nervous pup! There is living accommodation above (bedrooms / bathroom) therefore there may be other sounds of movement heard (though it is sound proofed) The outside space is shared. Please have your dog on a lead until you can let them off safely in The Orchard

Brackenthwaite Farm is an absolute gem! Immaculate holiday lets in a beautiful and tranquil setting, where everything has been thought of with care and attention to detail. The owners are really friendly and welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble. Dogs are very welcome and there is an enormous exercise field for them to run about in. There is play equipment for young children, farm animals to help feed, bbq’s for use, and when the evenings cool down there is a fire pit that you can sit around and enjoy. They have Stables too so you can take your horse along and enjoy riding in the surrounding area. There are lots of beautiful walks nearby, and around 40 minutes to the lake district so it’s a great base, although it is so lovely and relaxing you would find ut hard to leave.

We stayed in The Dairy which is a lovely cottage for 2 within which is a glass covered well. Just outside the accommodation there is a large enclosed exercise field ideal for dogs and children. The farm is well looked after by the hardworking, friendly hosts.
We found enough to do locally in a week without travelling further afield to the Lake district. There are good local restaurants. We especially liked the Wheatsheaf Inn at Beetham which is also very dog friendly.

Both Harry and Matthew were very welcoming and helpful.
The Dairy was absolutely beautifully done, throughout was spotlessly clean and everything you could want for a self catering place for 2 people. In the middle of the living area is a well that is lit up and makes a great feature. The mezzanine bedroom offers the same great views of the dog exercise and children’s play area, and the fields beyond as you get from the lounge window.
The Corner Cottage, where my daughter, son-in-law and two granddaughters stayed was equally as nice, clean and equipped.
Both cottages were given 6 eggs, supplied by the farms free range chickens. There were also ducks, geese, pigs, goats and alpacas to entertain the granddaughters.
We were lucky with the weather, which always helps! I will miss the early morning birds (woodpeckers, tits, sparrows…) eating a few meters from our window.
All-in-all a great spot to stay and to use as a base to visit the surrounding area
