Welcome to Poppy Cottage, a beautiful sandstone sanctuary where “dog-friendly” is a way of life. Tamsin is a proper dog person, and she’s created a space where you can kick off your boots, light the fire, and let your dogs be exactly what they are—part of the family.

- The “Slow Stay” Experience: Unlike most cottages, Tamsin offers a 12:00pm Check-In AND a 12:00pm Check-Out. Even better? She leaves a full day’s buffer between guests, so you never feel rushed and the cottage is always perfectly prepared just for you.
- Double the Garden Joy: Not one, but TWO outdoor spaces. A front garden and a long, fully fenced 5 feet high rear garden and courtyard.
- Dogs Stay Free: Whether you bring one or two, they stay for free—always!
- Zero Sofa Bans: Snuggle up! Tamsin provides lovely throws so the pups can join you on the sofa by the log burner.

The Vibe: Poppy Cottage is a mid-terrace cottage just off the main Whitby road - in the village of LoftusThe Peace of Mind Buffer: One of the best features for reactive dogs is Tamsin’s buffer day policy. Because there are no back-to-back bookings, there is no handover chaos. You wont arrive to find the previous guests still loading their car, and you wont be rushed out by cleaners at 10 am. It makes for a much calmer start and end to your holiday. The rear garden is fenced to a height of 5 feet (solid) Do be aware there are neighbours on either side

The Living Space 
Cosy living room with two comfy sofas and a crackling log-burning fire. Tiled floors make it practical for paws, and there's plenty of space to sprawl.
The Kitchen & Dining 
A compact kitchen with everything you need. Tamsin’s welcome pack is legendary—treats for you and the pups! There is a fabulous dog hideaway tucked under the stairs with two big memory foam dog beds. Perfect for when dogs come back from the beach
Sleeping King size bed with pure cotton bedding and smart bathroom with shower.
The Gardens 
The rear garden is long and secure. It’s fully fenced to 5 feet high, allowing for worry-free pottering while you enjoy the courtyard. Sun trap too. There is also a grassed front garden (lower height and dogs should be supervised in the front garden but rear garden is very secure)

What time is check-in and check-out? 
This is the best bit! You can arrive from 12:00 pm on your first day and don't have to leave until 12:00 pm on your last day.
Is there a buffer between bookings? 
Yes! Tamsin leaves a full day between every guest. This ensures the cottage is deep-cleaned and aired, and it means you have total privacy and no "changeover rush" during your stay. We can arrange for later check out if required
How secure is the garden? 
The rear garden is long and fully fenced/enclosed—tested and approved by Tamsin’s own spaniels!
