Poets Corner, Mundesley
Our lovely owners appreciate and proactively welcome multi dog owners and want your dogs to have just as lovely a holiday as you do at their dog friendly cottage, Mundesley.
Poet’s Corner is situated in the centre of Mundesley village in Russell Terrace, just off the High Street. It is a 2-5 minute walk (depending on brisk or lazy stroll) to its Blue Flag beach via the High Street, and Mundesley itself has many amenities. There is a village store, butcher, hairdresser, cafes, restaurants and pubs. There is also acrazy golf activity centre on Beach Road, and on the outskirts of the village there is a golf course with a rather good driving range.
There are some wonderful circular and coastal walks to enjoy with your dogs, take a look here. The area is also fantastic for getting out and about on your bike. If you fancy a bit of town shopping, the seaside towns of Cromer and Sheringham are a short drive away, and coming down the coast, you can find the beautiful seaside villages of Happisburgh, Sea Palling and Horsey to explore. With the historic city of Norwich just 20 miles away, there is a lot to do from this marvellous base in Mundesley.

Reactive Dog Guide
Poets Corner is a 3 star Reactive Friendly Pack Holidays cottage. Here are the reasons why, but also more importantly, what aspects of the cottage may not be suitable for your reactive. Poets Corner is situated centrally in Mundesley village but on arrival, you will see it is not overlooked and a very very good option for reactive dogs. There is a parking area which has a paddock gate, which, when shut, should deter most dogs from trying to exit to the quiet side road entrance (Russell Terrace). The rear garden is both very secure and large with lots of grass. The solid fencing surrounding the rear garden is between 5.5 and 6.5 feet all the way around and whilst there are houses on the other side, due to the size of the garden, height of the fencing and the protection of trees and bushes, it is not overlooked. The rear garden is accessed via the kitchen, day room door and ensuite bedroom door. Dogs can be supervised via all of these rooms and the living room too. There are some nice walks nearby and a 10 min walk through the main street to the beach. So whilst you may see other people and dog walkers on the way to a beach if you feel this is an issue, please talk to Gail for alternative routes. There are no passers by at Poets at all and no farmland or bird scarers in hearing.
Accessibility guide
Poets Corner is all on one level with two steps up into the property. There are 5 steps down from the rear kitchen door to the back garden. Please let me know if you have any mobility issues

Poets Corner is fantastic. Its quiet (well when our Suki (Daxie) gives up barking 🙂 Fantastic garden and all 5 of our pawfect friends loved it. To see them running around exploring was worth every penny. Walks on a near empty beach enabled their first seaside holiday to be enjoyable if a tad wet at times
The cottage is HUGE! Lovely heated flooring and the dogs certainly enjoyed those. Everywhere was perfect for dogs, tiled floor, laminate, throws on the sofas
Ours soon sussed that you could go out the small room door and run around and in the kitchen door to watch you through the dog gates! Thank you to all at Pack Holidays for making our stay so amazing!!!
Mandy –

What a fabulous holiday we’ve had. We couldn’t have asked for more and bringing our 4 ‘Golden Girls’ with us has meant all of us have been well and truly spoiled with facilities at Poets Corner and all the beautiful places to visit. Gail even managed to supply glorious weather, a real bonus with dogs and a lovely change from all the rain we have had. We would recommend
– The Village Chippy – fabulous fish and chips
– The beach (obviously)
– Sutton Staithe Hotel, just over 20 mins away, they welcomed our 4 dogs so lunch was a breeze
– Blicking Hall and Gardens – so many walks and a stunning place
– Felbrigg Hall 15 mins away another plus with dogs!
Thank you
The Peet Family –
Thank you for a fantastic stay at Poets Corner, its a little slice of Norfolk heaven for our 5 doggies. They absolutely loved the huge garden and will be sad to go home. The cottage has everything we need for a great family holiday
Thank you for having us.

We had the most amazing time – a real home from home but with far more luxury! The garden is absolutely beautiful and perfect space for our dogs. Cromer is always lovely, Mundesley has a lovely beach and we were so lucky to see over 2000 seals at Winterton on Sea, Horsey and almost everywhere. So many dog friendly places especially the cafe at Winterton on Sea. Warm weather for the time of year even with the rain!
Louise and Tony –
Thank you Gail and maintenance team for such a fabulous stay! We have thoroughly enjoyed our 5th visit to Poets! Thank you for our welcome basket. breakfast bits and making our doggies happy with their treats too! Its been a truly wonderful holiday this week, 9th to 16th July.
All doggies and humans have loved every minute of it.
I must make a special mention about the amazing garden – big enough to get lost in!
Poets is a super comfy place to stay and a great base to visit, lots of places including Overstrand, Bacton Woods, Sheringham, Walcott, Happisburgh, Sea Palling etc.
Thank you so very much xx

Poets Corner is a lovely, warm and quiet retreat. Perfect for dogs with a great garden, full of trees and paths leading nowhere to explore.
Bacton woods is a great place for picnics and dogs. Lots of trails and wildlife and plenty of parking. The footpath from the cottage leads to The Ship Inn. The Foundry Arms at Northrepps is very friendly and the lobster is delicious.
We will certainly be back to recharge the batteries once more.
Thank you to Gail and her team for a brilliant stay. We had just lost our beloved dog and they took in our food order late as we were stuck in traffic. They even put flowers and a sympathy card. So thoughtful and appreciated.
Dobby –

A wonderful week at one of our favourite cottages.
The week has gone so quickly!
The dogs were so excited to be back in the garden at Poets Corner. They love exploring, chasing and playing hide and seek! A lovely walk at Bacton Woods and visits to our favourite Art Cafe (opposite the church) in Cromer, Happisburgh, Winterton and for the first time, a trip to Holt. Super place, well worth the trip.
We can’t wait to return to Poets Corner. Such a beautiful cottage and garden, much loved by hoomans and dogs alike!!

Wonderful place, wonderful break! Favourite place? The garden! Lovely beach a stroll away. Park is even nearer if dogs prefer grass. Christmas week for 3 Healthcare workers. Sooo didnt go any further afield!!
Elizabeth, Ian, Florence, Margaret and Matt –
Poets Corner is in the most fanstastic location to see the stunning Norfolk coastline. Everywhere is furnished beautifully and the ‘extras’ are fantastically generous. The house is GREAT and totally geared up for the dogs to have a super time too. We have had wonderful days with Wiggins and Bilbo; seeing the seals at Horsey, the kippers at Cley smokehouse, Mary Janes Fish and Chips on Cromer Pier, Norwich Cathedral, cream teas at Wells-Next-The-Sea, Blakeney Point Nature Reserve, Felbrigg National Trust walks, and not forgetting the wonderful places in Mundesley. Poets Corner is a 5 star place to stay and we have loved every day here. Thank you Gina and Gail!!!!!
Janet and Paddy –

Such a wonderful property , so well equipped. Comfy beds, great dog friendly garden, in fact everything you need for relaxing holiday. It was so lovely to walk from the door to shops and the beach. Everything so near and handy, good welcome pack. Really appreciated treats for the dog. Hope to return soon!
Gaye Doig –
Out in the garden, supreme luxury both inside and out and we cant say thank you enough! The local chippy and Chinese get a 10/10 from all of us and would definitely visit them again =, even if we was just passing through the village! Place was spotless on arrival . We’ve already made up our minds that we will be coming back again next year and cannot wait! Thank you again Gail you have been fab!
Suzy and Alex –
WOW!!! This is not a cottage or a bungalow, its a villa! A little piece of the Mediterranean here in England! From the dog treats to the dog walks we loved it! Most people write a review but we just want to live here with our doggies!
Carina, Ant and Mylo –
What an absolute stunning home. The photos just don’t do it justice. We have been holidaying with our dogs for years and poets corner is probably the best that we have stayed in, lovely high quality features and fittings. We have visited, Wells, Sheringham, Felbrigg Hall, Pigneys Wood, Bacton Woods, Cart Gap and Small Sticks Cafe. A visiit to the ‘Fair Maiden’ fish shop in Happisburgh is a must (close to Mundesley). The weather has been amazing and we definitely havent even needed the heating on! Thank you
Thelma, Euan, Alexia and Theo –
I first saw Poets Corner advertised last year and have always wanted to stay. When yoy book online with just pictures to go by you are always a little apprehensive to whether it will meet the expectations. Oh my! It met and then some. It is amazing, immaculate and we just want to move here forever! It really is my dream home. The garden is immense, the space was enough for my girls and dog to get lost in. Corner house was great for a light lunch and fab you can take dogs in too! We had a car so we went to Horsey to see the seals and Wroxham to go boating. The beach is only 5 mins away and is always quiet. We will definitely be back, thank you Gail for such an amazing stay!
Jo, Kristy, Mariella and Sermon –
Wow, wow, wow! We’ve had a wonderful holiday with our 7 dogs. Cant wait to come back! We definitely recommend the Rocky Bottom crab and lobster restaurant in Cromer and a visit to the Cromer Pier. Mundesley has been wonderful! Thank you
Vicky, Frazer and Frankie –
This is our third time (we think??) at Poets Corner and it has been perfect as always. The cottage was beautifully decorated for Christmas, we had a lovey relaxed stay and spent Christmas Day in our pyjamas watching films with the fire blazing, it was perfect! The dogs loved running round the garden chasing each other. We’ve been very lucky with the weather. We loved the welcome hamper full of goodies for humans and pooches, it is a lovely touch and very generous. We love our visits to Poets Corner and have already booked to come back again in April, we cant wait!
Philip and Pauline –
Had a wonderful week, even the “beast from the east” couldn’t spoil our stay! The cottage is very cosy and excellent garden for the labradoodles. A special mention to Gail for allowing us to stay 2 extra nights, we would definitely recommend Pack Holidays and will definitely be returning again soon. Definitely a 5 stars from us!
Jordan –
We have all just returned from our first stay at Poets corner and what an absolute delight that it was!
The location is absolutely perfect and the beach is right on your door step, which is super handy when you have 4 dogs with you. The cottage is amazing and has everything you could want from a holiday and more, so much space both inside and out and equipped with everything that you need to have a comfortable stay. (the underfloor heating is a real delight, especially when getting out of the shower/bath), beds are so comfy that you never want to get up, the garden is so superb for your pooches and is literally a taste of heaven for them, near enough every night we had to drag them inside to go bed.
Right from the moment we parked up in the driveway we knew that we was in for a pure treat!
we can’t thank Gail and her team enough for all the wonderful things they do! I could keep writing and fill a book with all the fabulous things to say about this place!
I cannot recommend this place enough and if you’re looking for a perfect and stress free holiday in Norfolk then please visit Pack Holidays as you won’t be disappointed, we may have only just left but we already can’t wait to book and be back again next year!!
Adele, Mark + Jean, Pippa, Baris, Nelle + Charlie –
Came here in November and loved it. Just had a 2 weeks ( best decision ever!) and loved it more, the house is perfect and the village is beautiful. Lots to see and do in the area. Beach walks are great – especially Trimingham.
If you walk left from Mundesley. Cromer is a nice place to visit (near the pier) and also Overstrand beach + garden centre (10 mins drive) Norwich Cathedral is magnificent and well worth a trip. Local chippy is fabulous too 🙂
I fell in love with “cecil” ( who I named)O a blackbird who visited the patio 3x daily – he had a clubfoot and only uses one leg whilst here we spent lots of time in the garden and named a Blackbird “cecil” he is such a character. watch out for him and please feed if you can – ( local flower shop sells food) xxx
Carol, Alex and Ben –
Our 2nd time here, love it so much, the village is lovely and the house is just everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The weather was glorious, but a lovely breeze off the sea made it comfortable. Thank you Gail and team, and really appreciated the welcome pack.
I am sure we will be back next year.
Julie, John + Dogs –
Our 2nd visit here, a very hot week but we were nice and cool. A very relaxing week, with the extreme heat elsewhere, this corner of Norfolk has been 4-5 degrees cooler. Early or late walk has been the routine, sea has been great to paddle, Bacton woods is a nice, cool option. The Ship Inn is a great place to stroll to for a beer and watch the sea.
Thanks Gail for a great relaxing week.
Dee, Steve, Barney, Youla, Aisha + Calla –
Had a fab week – great location and plenty to walk straight too – the beach, little park, Fish n Fry, The Ship, New Sage, Corner house -all great!
Bacton woods have great walks for the dogs, followed by sugar and spice cafe at Bacton, great cakes! Loved staying at Poets Corner, garden great for the dogs, they didn’t want to come in most of the time! will be back! Thanks for a great stay.
Gill and Robin Skinner+ Masie, Webster and Ester –
What can I say – everyone else has said it all!! Just a fabulous dog friendly holiday cottage. My 3 Collies have been in their element – as have we. This was our first time in Mundesley and everyone has been so friendly.
Just cant wait to return!!
Claire, Carl, Elliot + 2x Labs –
Our 2nd visit and I’m planning our 3rd! The seals at Horsey are a must and we enjoyed a wildlife boat trip whilst we were there. The town of Sheringham has some nice shops.
Everywhere is dog friendly and there are lovely National trust places nearby.
Thank you for our amazing holiday
Carol, Alex and Monty (The Labrador) –
Our 3rd holiday at Poets Corner, I love it here so much, as always it was spotless. Our lab Ben loved his holidays here, but we sadly lost him last October, so this year our 7 month old lab Monty enjoyed the wonderful safe garden, and had great fun. It is just a wonderful place to enjoy all that this part of the country has to offer, and lots of “dog friendly” places to eat. Once again we are sad to leave but do so very relaxed, and ready to hopefully come back again next year. Many thanks to Gail and her team.
Paula and Les and Griffin –
Second time back at Poets, first time was winter. It was lovely but this time, it’s spring, the garden is stunning, laden with bluebells, loads of birds singing, all very zen 🙂
So lovely, we’ve already booked for next spring 2022. Beautifully clean and comfortable cottage. Short walk to the beach and all the other amenities. Just pawfect!! Thank you Gail and team
Zoe, Paul, Erin, Watson and Flynn –
The house and location are wonderful. If a good judge is if we would return, then the answer is confidently Yes! Well equipped, with lovely features. Garden is huge and dog friendly in fact the whole house is equipped and makes for very happy hounds. Mundesley is a lovely village with just the right amount of facilities for us. Crazy Golf was fab! There are three of us, my husband, me and teenage daughter and of course our beagles, Watson and Flynn who say ‘woof’. We didn’t venture that far, but walked on the beach at least once every day. We had breakfast in the cafe next to the crazy golf. The local shop and Tesco Express covered most of our needs and Sainsbury in North Walsham, the remainder. Back at the house, it only exceeded our expectations which were high having previously stayed in a Pack Holiday property.
Sue, Ted & Toffee –
Our experience at Poets Corner was wonderful – thoroughly recommend a stay here. They have thought of everything. Very clean, very comfortable. We ate at The Ship Inn and the Corner Cafe – the food and people were excellent. Sadly the weather was not the best for this time of year, but that didn’t stop us getting out and about. Went to Cromer, a lovely busy area.
Beaches in Mundesley are lovely. In all we loved our stay here and would come here again. Hoping the sun comes too!
Thank you
Gina, Tim, Willow and Monty –
My measure of a good holiday home is whether I’d like to live there. At Poets Corner, thats 100% Yes!
Love the house, love the area and the dogs love the garden. The welcome pack was much appreciated, thank you.
Thanks to Gail, owners and team for a spotless and well kept house.
Fuel issues curtailed our exploration, but we have enjoyed lots of local beaches, especially Happisburgh to Cart Gap and back with a stop at Smallsticks Cafe. Holt Country Park was good for a walk, as have parts of the coastal path. We’ve enjoyed meals at The Ship Inn, and from the New Sage takeaway, and lunch from the Corner House Cafe. is really helpful and has now taken over the Village Cafe so that’s worth a visit.
A fabulous stay again. Can’t wait to be back again next year.
Dave, Bev, Sara, Alan, Archie & Benjie –
We had a fantastic week at Poet’s Corner. The cottage is so well equipped and cosy, we loved it!
The location couldn’t be better, we enjoyed our morning walks on the beach watching the sunrise and then again in the evening to watch the sunset.
Our visits included Sea Palling beach, Cromer, Sheringham and Sheringham Park (great walking with your dogs if it’s been raining as the paths are tarmac. Holt park better on a dry day, as very muddy!!
We will be back next year 2023
Bev, Mike & Ann – Berthe, Flossie, Sid & Stanley –
Poets Corner is a lovely place to stay. It’s quiet but close to everything you need. Superb beaches nearby and woodland walks. Good food at The Ship and Smallsticks Café at Cart Gap and the Chinese is yummy too. We felt totally relaxed the minute we arrived and wished we would have stayed longer! Definitely one of the nicest places we have stayed.
Thank you Gail and Team
Rob, Marlena and Franky Cockapoo x ❤️🐾 –
Another wonderful stay. I can’t add more than has already been said. We love this part of the country and have enjoyed many walks, the beaches and the “local” pubs. Barely used the car and feel relaxed and refreshed.
Poets is a fabulous place and breakfast in the sunshine in the amazing garden isn’t bad in April!!
Thanks Gail and Team
Liz and Dean –
Hi Gail and Team, just like coming home, our 17 year old Romanian Rescue remembered from last years holiday and although she sleeps 23 hours a day, had a smile from ear to ear. May I say your cleaner and gardener had done a tremendous job in and around the cottage.
My husbands parents who joined us, were so looking forward to coming again, dad was 88 last week and like me, his mobility isn’t great. The first time we came, the dog gates were wonderful, not having to step over the bottom part. In fact, I have changed all ours at home now. The freezer for our raw dog food is brilliant as I dont like putting it with ours. Had an out of this world gigantic Fruit de Mer at The Lighthouse in Walcott, great Sunday dinner at The Star in Lessingham. Thank you again for a lovely holiday. Love xx
Adam, Clare, Eloise, Felix and the 4 cavvies xx –
Our third stay in Poets Corner, and as good as ever, if not better, because this time it was for 2 weeks. The cottage is as lovely as ever and the garden is like heaven for the doggies – they’ll miss it when we’re back home. We can’t fault Gail and her team for their efforts and super quick resolution when we had issues with the hot water. Mundesley beach is fabulous – we highly recommend going right – when you go down the slope and walking towards Bacton, where you’ll find the beach is much quieter than the main part.
If you’re lucky enough to be here when Bertie’s Woodfired Pizzas are in the shoppers car park then do take advantage – some of the nicest pizza we have ever hard! Find them on Facebook to check when they’re here.
The Mundesley Cheesecake Company provided a great afternoon tea for us and the cheesecake was exceptionally good. Wendy is really helpful and has now taken over the Village Cafe so that’s worth a visit.
A fabulous stay again. Can’t wait to be back again next year.
