Location & Directions
Cottage Details
When You Arrive Pull into the private driveway, which has space for two cars parked tandem. You’ll enter the cottage via a very handy Porch. This is the perfect "buffer zone" for beach life—it has plenty of room for hanging wet weather gear, storing footwear, and towelling off sandy bellies. We’ve even tucked an under-counter freezer in here (great for raw feeders!) and provided two spare crates (76cm and 90cm) if you need them.
Kitchen & Open-Plan Living Room Step through into the heart of the home. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with an electric hob, oven, microwave, and fridge, along with everything you need for a self-catering break. The space is bright and airy, featuring a dining table for four and a cosy lounge area. With hard flooring throughout, you don't need to worry about the dogs making themselves at home—Nautilus is a "no-stress" zone.
The Bedrooms Both bedrooms are conveniently located on the same level:
Bedroom 1 (Front): A light and bright room furnished with twin beds, wardrobe storage, and bedside lighting.
Bedroom 2 (Rear): The master bedroom, featuring a comfortable King-sized bed and views toward the quiet rear garden.
The Bathroom A modern family bathroom featuring a WC, sink, and a full-sized bath with a drop shower above—perfect for a long soak after a day on the dunes.
The Garden The garden is accessed directly through the porch door. It is a very secure, private space laid mainly to lawn. Because it is enclosed by 6ft fencing and is not overlooked by neighboring dogs, it is a fantastic place for reactive dogs to decompress and play off-lead in total safety.
What we provide for your Pack
Unlimited Dog Policy: No limit on numbers—bring the whole pack!
The Essentials: Dog bowls, holiday tags, and furniture throws.
Crates: Two sizes provided (76cm and 90cm) in the porch.
Beach Ready: We are just a few minutes from the shore, and we provide dog towels for that post-beach dry-off.
🌊 Nautilus Frequently Asked Questions
Is the beach really walkable? Yes! You can reach the beach in about 5–10 minutes on foot. It’s a lovely, level walk that takes you over the dunes and directly onto Eccles beach, which is dog-friendly all year round.
How secure is the garden? Nautilus features a very secure rear garden with 6ft high fencing all the way around. Once the side gate is closed, it is a safe sanctuary for dogs of all sizes.
Can I really bring unlimited dogs? Yes! At Pack Holidays, we don't believe in limits or extra fees. Whether you have two dogs or ten, they are all welcome at Nautilus.
Is it quiet enough for a reactive dog? Nautilus is one of our 3-Star Reactive Friendly properties. The road is very quiet, traffic is minimal, and there are currently no dogs in the neighboring gardens, which helps reduce barking triggers.
Are there places to eat nearby? Absolutely. It’s just a short drive to the dog-friendly Star Inn at Lessingham (approx. 5 mins) or into Sea Palling for cafes and a pub.
Is Nautilus suitable for raw-fed dogs? Yes! We know how important it is to keep your pack’s routine on holiday. Nautilus is a "Raw Feeder Friendly" cottage, featuring a dedicated under-counter freezer located in the porch. This allows you to store your dog's food separately and conveniently, right next to the "muddy paw" station, so you don't have to worry about space in the main kitchen fridge.

We have had a fab week at Eccles on Sea (Nautilus)
The weather has been amazing. My grand-daughter has been in the sea every day
We have been a little restricted with the dogs because of the heat , but we have visited Bacton Woods, Happisburgh and Sea Palling
The beach is so near and so quiet
The community who live here are very friendly
The cottage has everything we needed and the welcome pack was gratefully received. Thank you to Gail and the team for setting it all up for us
Mr and Mrs Godfrey and George –
We came here last year and we enjoyed our stay and holiday so very much, we booked up again this year. The cottage is a lovely place, clean and very tidy, couldnt fault it in any way, love all the places round here where you can go, always something nice to do so want to say a big thank you. Im sure we will be back again
Janet, Steve and 8 rescue mini poodles –
Enjoyed our second stay here – we came late November last year and enjoyed seeing all the overwintering geese and breeding seals. A couple of our dogs dont cope well with unknown dogs too close and another is elderly, so we keep our distance from other packs.
They all managed really well here as its not too busy and plenty of space once you get to the beach
Winterton beach, dues and cafe is a favourite, Stalham to see the boats and Cookes of Ingham Farm Shop is great for nice local food, local fruit and veg and gifts
Poppylands is dog friendly and worth a stop if visiting the Horsey area
Toad Hall Cottage Museum near Ludham is dog friendly and has a fascinating fen keepers cottage and nice riverside walks
Ludham Bridge nearby has a nice cafe / bakery and gift shop
Another nice riverside walk too
Eccles is the perfect base as its so quiet and you can get into the Broads easily too
We will be sad to leave but always look forward to our next visit
Tia and Rosie –
Our second time at Nautilus and have had a lovely time walking on the beach with our two dogs. We just love the peace and quiet of the place. The weather has been lovely again
Sarah and Ian –
Our Pack Crew of 11 poodles and 1 schnauzer absolutely loved the quiet beaches. We stumbled across Bacton Woods and it was perfect to exercise a large pack. We ate out at a couple of pubs who welcomed our large group of pooches
We spent 4 hours sea watching at Horsey beach – the seals seemed to interact with dogs, swimming close to shore in tandem with our dogs. Finished with a refreshing pint at the Nelson Head on the way back — very large garden and very welcoming to us with our large family
Gill Simmons –
Gill John and our 7 dogs, Jovie, Quizz, Shade, Dream, Spyda, Rolo and Clemmie – April 2025
What a fabulous holiday we had here at Nautilus, the little bungalow had everything we needed for our stay. Added bonus was the beach being at the end of the road with such easy access.
We had lots of walks on the local beach, plus walks at Winterton, The Paston Way, two different walks on The Weavers Way, we visited Bacton Woods for the first time ever, and we also walked the footpath at the back of Horsey Gap we did look over the top at the hundreds of seals lying on the beach.
We can recommend the Star at Lessingham again now that the great chef is back. Fish and Chips at Stalham were lovely.
We are now back home resting after our adventures and dreaming of our next holiday.
Gill, John and the dogs –

Sue and Sandra –
Perfect little haven! Oscar and Bailey enjoyed exploring Eccles on Sea and Cart Gap beaches. The location is perfect for those that prefer a quiet and peaceful holiday. Would definitely want to stay again

We stayed for a long weekend in January with our two Labradors. The real big draw of this property was its location so close to the beach and that did not disappoint! It was our younger dog’s first trip to the seaside so we wanted somewhere quiet that the dogs could run around without too many other people about and this location was perfect for that. Long stretches of sand that we often had completely to ourselves. As we were only there for a weekend we didn’t explore further afield – long walks on the beach in the mornings and then relaxing in the house for the afternoon. Nautilus was comfortable, warm, well equipped and a very pleasant place to stay.

Nautilus was a lovely cottage that was clean and tidy on arrival. The location of the property was second to none, just a few minutes stroll to the beautiful beach. The garden was secure for our pooch and had an array of lovely flowers. The cottage was well equipped with everything you need and had an added bonus of having Netflix to watch after an adventure packed day. We would happily come back and stay again!

We have had an absolutely lovely time whilst being in Nautilus. We have been extremely lucky with the weather and to be so close to the beach. The dogs have all loved it and have to say the design of the place and finish has meant it was perfect for us. We have been all round from Cromer to Yarmouth, we visited the Shire Horse Rescue Centre and Wroxham Barns two particular places we visited and loved, Thank you for giving us a lovely place to stay in and we are going home with very tired dogs. Thank you

We stayed for a long weekend at Nautilus at the beginning of July 24, I chose this Cottage as it was all on one level for my 91-year-old mother. The cottage is nicely furnished and was ideal for my young dog to run on the beach which was about a 5 Minute walk away. The weather was not the best but we did manager to go to Great Yarmouth and Cromer
Keith Williams –
We stayed at Nautilus for a three day break . Found Nautilus to be charming and clean . Lots of space and a lovely little garden for my dog Gym to explore. The beach which was very close by was lovely sand and some times deserted apart from us . Nice local pubs where delicious food was served . All in all a great place if you want a quiet getaway. Highly recommend . Definitely will be back .

I came to Nautilus from London with eight lively dogs and had a very enjoyable week, despite very poor weather including almost daily rain, cold, and heavy winds. The cottage was lovely and cosy, very secure for the dogs with a small fenced garden and fitted with all the necessary amenities for a relaxing stay. Best of all was the beach, only a few minutes walk down the road. Everyday, in between the rain showers, I took several walks on the beach with a small pack of 3-4 dogs. I was delighted to be able to frequently let all my dogs run free on the beach without much worry of confrontations with other dogs or taking off in the wrong direction as the beach usually had very few other people on it besides myself, and the beaches were well protected by the lengthy concrete flood defence structures which prevented my crazy pooches from running away. When it did rain, I enjoyed relaxing in the cottage and watching many Netflix movies with a hot cup of tea. We also had time to explore a little bit around the local area, including visiting Sea Palling and the Museum of the Broads, where we enjoyed an informative boat tour of the Broads. My dogs and I enjoyed our stay at Nautilus and the local beaches very much, so when it came time to go, I was very sad to return to normal life. However, I do hope to return again as Nautilus is the perfect getaway for someone looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday with the pooches.

Although we have not travelled far (South Norfolk and Cambridgeshire) the change of scenery and peace and quiet has been just what we needed.
The weather has been lovely (for once) and lunches in the garden enjoyed by me and mum
Ollie, my new 8 year old rescue has loved the beach on his doorstep – he is going to miss it, as am I!!
Nautilus is lovely, great to be so close to the beach, which, on a busy walk, I think we saw 6 people!?
