The Garden & Gate Upgrades: The outdoor space consists of a beautiful stone-walled patio and a secure side decking area under a pergola. To maximize security for our pack members, the owners have installed protective security mesh behind the 4ft gate, completely closing off any gaps. This makes the space perfectly hound-proof and prevents smaller dogs or curious terriers from slipping underneath. 🛡️ The Surroundings: Garrigill is a deeply peaceful, sleepy village where little has changed since the 1950s. Located at the very edge of the main village, the field overlooked by the property does not contain livestock, meaning passing livestock triggers are kept to an absolute minimum. Visual Screening: The traditional thick stone walls and secure gated perimeter provide excellent visual screening, allowing reactive dogs to settle, potter, and relax without a care in the world. 🤫⛰️

The main entrance hallway, open-plan lounge/kitchen, and the second bedroom (the rustic railway cabin room) are all on the ground floor with step-free flow. The separate private spa building sits immediately next door with level threshold access. The master bedroom suite is upstairs on the first floor, accessed via a standard staircase.

🚪 Arrival & Parking Arriving at Gatecroft Barn is an instant step into tranquility. Pull through the large farm-style gate onto your gravel driveway, or utilize the off-road gravel parking directly in front of the cottage. Pass through the smaller gate beneath the beautiful timber pergola—unloading your dogs and luggage is safe, private, and completely away from any main roads.
🛋️ Living Room & Kitchen Step inside into a traditionally furnished, open-plan living area filled with 17th-century character. Relax on the deep leather sofas and armchair next to a roaring cast iron log-burning stove (stocked with an ample and generous supply of logs and kindling). The space includes a fold-out dining table that comfortably caters for up to 6 people. The compact, country-style kitchen is beautifully kitted out with a Belfast sink, hob, built-in oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, and a Tassimo coffee machine for your morning brew. ☕🔥

- Are there off-lead walks directly from the door? You can walk straight out into the North Pennines towards the beautiful Ashgill Force waterfall. Please note that parts of the trail go through active farmland where cattle and sheep graze seasonally, so dogs will need to be on leads through those specific sections. 🌊
- Is there mobile phone signal? No, there is no mobile network coverage in the village. However, the cottage has Free WiFi, so you can easily make calls by switching on "WiFi Calling" on your smartphone. 📱
- What is the minimum stay? We operate on a 2-night minimum stay throughout most of the year. During the Christmas period, there is a 3-night minimum stay with no check-ins or check-outs on Christmas Day or Boxing Day. 📅
