3 Star Reactive Dog Friendly

3 Star Reactive Dog Rated

Eden Hall is a 2 star Reactive Friendly Pack Holidays cottage, but very much edging up to a 3 star. Here are the reasons why, but also more importantly, what aspects of the cottage may not be suitable for your reactive dog. Eden Hall is situated on a fairly quiet road leading from North Walsham to Bacton and Walcott. The garden is very secure with 9 foot high stone walls and the lowest being 6 foot high. Whilst entry into the garden is from the road, once the 9 foot high gates are shut, the garden is private and very secure and dogs can be left with ultimate freedom in the garden. There is a small patio area to the front of the property which can be secured with a side gate but please note that the road is on the other side of the 9 foot wall so if you do have noise reactive dogs, you may wish to use the main garden rather than the small front courtyard. The cottage does have a cottage on the other side with fencing that adjoins the rear of next door’s property, but it is a very small portion of the rear garden and the fencing is 6 foot high. The walk to the beach is 5-10 mins depending on which entry you choose – note that as it is a beach location, there will be other people and dogs accessing it more regularly during peak times. Whilst there are other houses to either side and to the rear of the property, we can hardly say it is overlooked given the height of the walls. The parking area is not separate from the garden. Whilst the garden and outside area is totally secure, you may wish to ensure that dogs are supervised/contained before moving cars in the driveway.

Arrived through wind, rain and floods by courtesy of storm Babet to find a wonderful warm and welcoming cottage
Thank you especially to the housekeeping team who left everything so perfectly arranged and welcoming
We have all (3 generations) enjoyed our stay here and felt so relaxed knowing how secure the outside area is for the dogs.
Weve taken long walks along the wonderful beaches, visited Blickling Estate, Horsey Wind Pump and the seals at Horsey Gap, Happisburgh fascinating lesson in erosion and pre-history (Happisburgh footprints), eaten in mostly (kitchen too good!) and picnics – I could go on and on..thank you

  6. Jason & friends

Surprised 50th birthday gathering. 8 adults + 7 dogs. Easily accommodated us all in comfort. Plenty of room to sit round the table or sit outside. What a weekend. Wi-Fi was decent. No problems with hot water in the showers. I was dying to light the open log fire just for the joy of an open fire but in one of the hottest Septembers on record it was probably not a good idea. If you’re looking for a nice getaway 10 mins walk to the beach for maybe a family gathering at Christmas or whatever this is a perfect place. The beach is incredible in the mornings. So flat and sandy. You could easily mistake for being abroad. If I want to be picky I’d say a hot tub and maybe an outdoor fire pit would be a suggestion but that’s being very picky. Otherwise, can’t fault it.

This place was so nice we’ve all agreed to make it an annual thing. I would definitely recommend this cottage and go again.

  7. Jim, Pat and all our family

We have just finished a wonderful holiday week at Eden Hall to celebrate my 80th birthday with our family which included 3 dogs. I can’t praise the cottage enough. A very well equipped kitchen, very comfortable living areas and bedrooms,, and nice little touches like Plum and Ashby toiletries. Proximity to lovely sandy beaches as well. Dogs and adults all enjoyed long walks on dog friendly beaches. We would all strongly recommend for a holiday on the Norfolk coast.

  8. Laura, Jon and family

Thanks for such a lovely stay. The house is beautiful and it was the perfect weekend away with family.
Its so great that the kitchen is well equipped – the touches of washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets really helps. And the lovely Plum and Ashby soaps and fragrances are extra special.
    Thanks for a great stay!

What an amazing cottage, we were seven adults and five dogs and the cottage accommodated everyone’s needs and space. The cottage is certainly well looked after and exceptionally well furnished and equipped. The location is perfect for dog walks on the beach and exploring the beautiful Norfolk coast and countryside. Prior to booking Eden Hall a lot of research was done to find a cottage which catered for a large group with dogs, Eden Hall was the only one that ticked all the boxes and more than exceeded our expectations. We did have a problem with the extractor fan, however after contacting Gail on the same day it was sorted straightaway. Overall we cannot praise Pack Holidays and Eden Hall enough, we enjoyed it so much we will be returning next year!

    What a fabulous house!!
One of the must well equipped and dog friendly holiday homes we’ve ever stayed in. The location was perfect for long walks on beautiful sandy beaches, the dogs (and humans!) had a great time! We had a minor problem with the extractor fan and the company dealt with it the same day, great service!!
    Everything was just perfect
PS can highly recommend The Ship Inn at Mundesley for a pint and a crab sandwich after a long walk on the beach!
    Thank you

  14. Jill & family

Our family of 8 + 3 dogs have had such a lovely week at Eden Hall Cottage, it was perfect in every way. We all loved it. 😍

  15. Kate

Thank you for a wonderful weekend! We stayed as a group of friends to celebrate by 40th birthday. I couldnt have asked for a more perfect celebration. The house is beautiful, perfectly appointed with all the little luxuries – we made the most of the location and went on seaside adventures

  16. Dee, David, Dylan, Obi and Louis

What a stunning house! We loved spending time here. We walked on different beaches every day, then enjoyed coming back cooking on the amazing range, and chilling out. Just a perfect birthday treat for me. Our three spaniels loved the beaches then slept all afternoon/evening – they were shattered!
We’ve been to some gorgeous beaches, our favourite was Wells. It’s an hours to drive but worth it! Breathtaking views! The seals at Horsey were just unbelievable, very emotional seeing all the pups. Holt is gorgeous and fabulous independent shops. The local coffee/cake shop have amazing cake!

We’ve had a totally indulgent stay, enjoyed your beautiful products and already put in an order.

Thank you – I love your interior style – Just my thing! Thank you for my birthday cake! Delicious!

  17. The Wells Family

We all had a lovely stay at your beautiful house. It was very well stocked with everything we needed and I loved having so many plates, cups, cutlery and crockery generally. We live a very odd life all travelling most of the year and largely live abroad so to come together in one place once a year is very important to us as a family – Eden Cottage fitted us all in comfortable and a few extras passing through!!
We visited many friends in Norfolk and went to a lovely (midnight) well, actually late afternoon carol service at Stody Church with friends.

The beach gave us lovely family walks and we also went to see the seals at Horsey Gap. Amazing! A lovely easy to live in house, beautifully thought out, comfy beds, super clean and lovely products. Thank you.

  18. The Sweaseys

The house is absolutely beautiful and has been perfect for our group of friends and our dogs. It has been so relaxing to have the gated garden which allowed them to potter about and lie in the sun
We had a great night in The Gunton Arms with steaks cooked in the open log fire. Lots of fab beachy walks at Wells and Holkham and Horsey gap. Thank you

  19. Heather and Family

Thank you for the fantastic service we have received. Nothing seems to be too much trouble and as a customer we really appreciate that.
The house was beautiful and absolutely full of anything you could wish for. The mattresses were really comfortable, something that was noted by all of our guests. The living area lended itself to a very sociable and memorable holiday, especially with the french doors opening out onto the garden. The nice little touches of the books in the living room, the Plum & Ashby toiletries and the doggy biscuits (which were wolfed down!) were all well received.

Your recommendations of pubs to visit etc were also excellent. My sisters 60th birthday celebrations at the Gunton Arms made happy memories for all the family. All in all a lovely holiday and definitely a place to return to.

  20. Carmel & Family

What a wonderful post lockdown treat.
    Loved
The walk from Burnham Overy Staithe to Holkham Gap, then lunch at The Hero at Burnham Overy Staihthe and a drink at The Victoria at Holkham
Dinner at the Ingham Swan a 10 min drive away
Garden at East Ruston – walk, photography, coffee and cake
Lunch at Sugar and Spice and
    Moocha round Burnham Market shops
Thank you for sharing your home – its quite wonderful!

  21. Olivia

Thank you for a wonderful stay. Four adults and 3 under four. Plenty to do including wonderful days at the beach (walking distance) fish and chips at No 1 in Cromer, trip to Bewilderwood and Bacton Woods. And beautiful Plum and Ashby products. Thanks again.

  22. Holly, Scott, Max, Laura, Verity, Charlie and Pippa

The most amazing cottage!! Our fist UK holiday with our puppy, Pippa, and we couldn’t have asked for more. Gorgeous days out to Burnham Market, Holt and a few days exploring the Norfolk Broads by boat. We had an outstanding meal at The Ingham Swan too – a must if you are close by. Lovely walks down the beach on glorious sunny days. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous home with us.

  23. The Brynings

We had the most wonderful stay at Eden Hall. Bacton Beach is beautiful – very peaceful and almost empty. The Gunton Arms is a must in this area, especially the roast on a Sunday! We will definitely return! Thank you

  24. Guy, Ruth, Enne, Evie, George & Stan (The Frenchie)

Gail, from Pack holidays, was so helpful, nothing was too much trouble and she always was quick to respond in a lovely friendly manner.

We enjoyed a lovely stroll to the peaceful Bacton beach and had lovely fish & chips from The Catch at Mundesley, highly recommended.

We would love to come back as soon as we can and will certainly be recommending this beautiful cottage to family and friends.

  25. Sheila, Robbie, Abigail, Paul, Nicola, Alex, Dougie, Figgi and Kieran and five hounds!

What a lovely property! We had a wonderful stay last week, the house is fabulous, very comfortable, the kitchen was a treat to work in, the space is wonderful. Highlights, the super comfy beds and bedding, the huge bathrooms and fluffy white towels. There is an easy walk to the local Bacton beach which at this time of year is almost deserted – the dogs loved it. We enjoyed a trip to Holt with its lovely shops, Felbrigg Hall woodland walk and of course a trip to The Gunton Arms for a very special family meal, superb. Wonderful Norfolk!

  26. Amanda, Phil, Mabel (The wire fox terrier) and Charlotte and Shep (The chocolate labs)

Well what can we say, a brilliant property and the best base out for exploring the Norfolk Coast. We really do not want to go home. Hopefully will be back at some point in the future.

    Thanks everyone.

  27. The Star Family ⭐

Thank you Eden Hall for a lovely family stay celebrating a big birthday. Beautiful house. Well furnished and stocked with everything we could need. The ‘welcome pack’ was greatly appreciated.

We hope to come again soon!

  28. The Barnes Family

Lovely cottage, fabulous few days at Eden Cottage. The beaches are beautiful and your recommendations of The Gunton Arms at Thorpe Market and the Vernon Arms at Southrepps for lovely meals were 5 star!

    Thank you.

  29. The Law Family

We booked Eden Cottage after seeing it featured on Instagram and in house magazines and it didn’t disappoint – a beautiful house to stay in – we’re all going home to redecorate now!

The beach was lovely and quiet, at this time of year (March), for long walks with the dogs and we also liked the steam train from Holt to Sheringham (and back again)

    A super place to stay

    Enjoyed by

  30. Mandy Blick & Family

Thank you for a lovely week in your cottage. Comfy beds, great welcome pack and everything has been though of. Bacton is central to everywhere we chose to visit. Dexter our dog loved it too.

    Best wishes

  31. Jordan, Jade, Jackie, Tom

Wow wow wow what an amazing house, completely stunning throughout. Our first trip back to Norfolk since September last year and it was certainly needed. Lots of relaxing, eating and trips to Bacton Beach. The dogs are worn out and we’ve enjoyed every moment. Can’t wait to return.
