Consequently, both the North and South Cornish coasts are just a 10-minute drive away. Furthermore, nestled in the heart of the UNESCO World Mining Heritage Site, this cottage puts you within easy reach of pristine sandy beaches, unforgettable dog walks along the South West Coast Path, and thrilling cycling adventures on the nearby West Kernow Way and Bissoe Trail.
However, the real magic of Beech Cottage begins right outside your door. Here, you and your dogs can enjoy a fully enclosed dog-friendly garden, a warm-water outdoor dog shower, a BBQ area, two on-site dog exercise paddocks, wildflower meadows, and enchanting woodland trails. In addition, a new hardcore pathway now makes the ponds and woods even more accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs. With 36 acres of countryside to roam, you can step outside each morning and begin your dog walks straight from the doorstep.
Moreover, owners Richard and Helen, now the third generation to live and work at Sunrise, are passionate about wildlife and preserving this stunning landscape for future generations. As Helen explains, “It’s a pure joy to welcome our visitors to this little slice of Eden.”

Reactive Dog Guide
Beech Cottage is a very high 2 Star Reactive friendly cottage (purely due to having cottages nearby). The garden is enclosed to the height of just under 5 feet high all around (lowest) The fencing between Beech Cottage and Sycamore Cottage next door is solid and a height of 5 feet. However if you are holidaying with family and want the garden opened up to the next cottage, this can be done to allow all dogs to access their friends next door. There is plenty of access for zoomies and offlead time in the two exercise fields nearby. The fence height in the exercise fields are 2 metres on the open side and 1.5 metres on the side with hedges between them. There is no livestock in the fields around as the land is set for wild flowers. The surrounding farms are all arable

When You Arrive
When you arrive at Beech Cottage, you’ll find two dedicated parking spaces right outside the garden gate, which makes unloading smooth and stress-free—especially when travelling with dogs. If you have additional vehicles, simply let us know, and we can arrange extra spaces.
After unloading, your dogs can immediately enjoy the fully enclosed, dog-secure patio garden, giving them a safe space to settle in and stretch their legs after the journey.
Downstairs: Open-Plan Kitchen & Living Area
Downstairs, the spacious open-plan layout welcomes you with an abundance of natural light. Wide French doors open directly from the dog-friendly patio garden, while dual-aspect windows bring the countryside views indoors. This seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces encourages you to relax while enjoying the surrounding landscape. Meanwhile, eco-friendly dimmable LED lighting creates a cosy ambience for evening downtime.
The living area features hand-crafted English leather sofas, sourced locally from the family-run Alfred Smith & Sons in Penzance. These durable, stylish sofas are perfect for guests with dogs. After a day of exploring, you can unwind in front of the 43-inch Smart TV (Netflix and YouTube are pre-programmed—simply log in with your own account) or cosy up by the remote-control fireplace.
The granite-topped kitchen comes fully equipped, including a ceramic hob and dishwasher, while a separate laundry room with a washing machine and a convenient downstairs wet room makes muddy dog days hassle-free.
Upstairs
Upstairs continues the stylish theme with three beautifully appointed bedrooms, each featuring premium HYPNOS beds for a restful night’s sleep.
Master Suite – King-size bed, calming neutral décor, and a Juliette balcony with stunning valley views. The ensuite offers underfloor heating, a heated towel rail, and a luxurious raindrop shower.
Second Double Suite – King-size bed with its own ensuite shower room.
Third Bedroom – Two singles (one trundle) with ensuite, ideal for families.
All bedrooms feature Smart TVs with Netflix and YouTube (log in with your own details). Fresh white linen and towels are provided, and you only need to bring beach towels if planning coastal trips.

Step outside into the beautifully designed, fully enclosed garden, created in collaboration with RHS Chelsea Gold Medal-winning designers. Here, you can enjoy:

The garden fencing stands just under 5 feet high, ensuring excellent security for your dogs. Additionally, for larger group bookings, the bifold fences between Beech Cottage and neighbouring Sycamore Cottage can be opened to connect the two properties.
Dog Paddocks
Beech Cottage offers exceptional on-site facilities for dogs, giving them space to run and play safely:
Secure dog exercise field (no booking required) with 2m fencing on the open side and 1.5m on hedged sides
Second dog exercise field with play equipment (pre-booking required)
Because there is no livestock on site and surrounding farms are arable, even reactive or nervous dogs can explore with confidence. These paddocks allow your dogs to exercise off-lead just steps from the cottage.
