Ash Cottage is a beautifully converted retreat nestled within the ground floor of our historic Grade II listed Tower Barn. Designed specifically for two, this 5-Star Gold cottage is the epitome of “toasty comfort,” featuring underfloor heating throughout and a crackling wood-burning stove.
Because it is entirely single-level with wide access, Ash Cottage has been awarded Mobility Level 2 (M2) status. It’s the perfect choice for couples (and their dogs!) who want a character-filled barn experience without the worry of stairs. 🏔️♿🐾

Reactive Dog Guide
The Garden: While Ash has its own private, enclosed garden area, it is small and not fully dog-secure. We recommend that dogs remain on lead or under close supervision while outside, especially if they are prone to jumping or exploring boundaries. The Setting: Being on the ground floor of the Tower Barn, you may hear occasional paws from the cottage above. As you are in the main farm complex, other guests and dogs will be visible from the front of the cottage. Single Level: For dogs who are anxious about stairs or have limited mobility, this single-level layout provides a very settled and easy-to-navigate environment. 🐕
Accessibility guide
The entrance door is 90cm wide with level access. The interior features an open-plan lounge, kitchen, and dining area leading to a large bedroom with 80cm wide doors. The en-suite wet room features a level-access shower, grab rails, and a lever-tap washbasin. A shower seat and raised toilet seat are available upon request.

🚪 When You Arrive You can park right outside the cottage door to unload your gear. Step through the wide front door into a tiled hallway that’s perfectly designed for wiping down paws after a trek.
🍳 The Kitchen & Dining The open-plan kitchen and dining area is bright and well-equipped. The dining chairs are wooden with leather-effect pads. Thanks to the underfloor heating, the tiled floor is a warm and inviting spot for dogs to nap while you cook!
🛋️ The Lounge The lounge is a cosy, carpeted sanctuary. Sink into the two-seater leather sofa or the fireside armchair in front of the wood-burning stove. For entertainment, you have a 32” TV with a Blu-ray/DVD player. 🔥
🛌 The Bedroom & Wet Room The large bedroom features a Super-King Zip & Link bed with 95cm clearance all around. You’ll also find an LCD TV and an iPod docking station. The adjoining en-suite wet room is finished with slip-resistant vinyl flooring and features underfloor heating for a luxury feel.
🌳 The Garden Outside, you have a small, enclosed garden area. It’s a lovely, peaceful spot for a morning coffee or a BBQ. Please note: While the garden is enclosed, it is not considered fully dog-secure, so we advise keeping an eye on your four-legged friends while they are outside. 🛡️🌅

Is the garden secure for dogs? 🛡️ The garden is enclosed but small and not dog-secure. We recommend supervising your dogs while they are outside.
Is the cottage completely level? Yes, Ash Cottage is entirely on one level with no internal steps.
Is there a hot tub? No, Ash Cottage does not have a hot tub.
Is there a BBQ? Yes, a charcoal BBQ is provided (please bring your own charcoal). 🍔
🧭 Locally & Useful Information
The Duke of Cumberland (1 mile): A fantastic, dog-friendly pub in Castle Carrock village. It’s a steady 20-minute walk down the hill (just remember it’s uphill on the way back!). 🍻
Talkin Tarn Country Park: A short 5-minute drive away. It features a lovely 1.3-mile circular walk around the lake—perfect for dogs who love a flatter stroll.
Gelt Woods: Beautiful ancient woodland and riverside walks are right on your doorstep. Follow the track from the bottom of the farm drive. 🌳🌊
Brampton (2 miles): The nearest market town for local shops, butchers, and a Coop for all your supplies.
