This unique property offers you the chance to stay in a Norfolk Windmill. Built in 1908 by Dan England a well respected and admired MillWright, Martham Mill also known as Bracys Mill has stood proudly over looking the River Thurne and Hickling Broad for over a century. The Windmill has been sensitively renovated in order not to detract from its original purpose but still has all the modern facilities you require to enjoy your holiday.
The Mill stands proud in its own enclosed garden surrounded by idyllic Broadland Marshes and can be reached by boat or a 10 minute walk along a concrete path from your individual car parking space.
Just stepping across the River Path onto the privately owned Mill Moorings you have your own comfortable seating area where you can picnic, fish, birdwatch, imagine stories of Nelson as a young man learning to sail on the close by Hickling Broad, watch the life on the River Thurne and adjacent Hickling Norfolk Wildlife Trust or just sit and do nothing.
Around The Mill within the enclosed garden are lovely areas to sit with seating provided to enjoy most splendid evening views across uninterrupted countryside, sit quietly and you may see The Barn Owl flying closely by.
From these moorings you can have full and exclusive use of Flow-Rider the Mills Day Boat (for an extra fee, arranged at time of hiring the Mill). ** If you opt to use Flow-Rider, you will be able to really explore The Norfolk Broads. You will be given full instruction, buoyancy aids, your first tank of fuel and full insurance. Flow Rider takes up to four hooomans, your pooches can come too, and is very easy to use.
** Hire of Flow-Rider is separate to the hire of the mill and costs £225 for the week, including fuel.
If you wish to bring your own sailing boat that is fine too, as there are sufficient moorings for your use but please let us know when booking.
You can bring your doggy friend on holiday here too and you will be able to enjoy long walks without even getting into your car. Martham has food stores, Chemist, Post Office, Fish and Chips and a Chinese Shop, Butchers and Public Houses. The local village of Potter Heigham offers a dog friendly pub, large store selling nearly everything you will need and a huge fishing tackle shop.
If you can, do hire canoes from both Martham Boatyard and Herbert Woods at Potter Heigham.
You can access the beach at Horsey by taking Flow- Rider across Horsey Broad and then walking the 2.5 miles to the Dog Friendly beach. At Horsey you will find another Wind Mill recently renovated but you cannot stay in this one. There is a cafe and toilets are here to, so well worth a days visit.
If you have any special requests our lovely owner Jan will do her very best to accommodate them. She will meet you on arrival and introduce you to the area so that you get the very best out of your holiday. She also has maps for you to explore The Broads.
The Mill sleeps up to four people but if your party is larger and you would like a property on the Broad, please let us know.

Can’t thank Jan and Ken enough. Had a wonderful week here at the windmill, never felt so welcome before, really pleasant people to have booked a holiday with. The fishing has been awesome despite the greedy swan that wouldn’t leave us alone! The only problem was that we didn’t want to leave.
Thank you so much for letting us all stay. What an amazing place, totally unique and so quirky, just what we were looking for! It exceeded our expectations and we couldn’t have wished for more. A little gem! Enjoy the rest of your summer, we will be remembering the beautiful memories we made here.
Thank you for letting me stay here for an amazing holiday!! I love how unique everything is, and it makes it seem so cosy. This is definitely a holiday we will remember. Thank you again for everything!
