Sparrow Cottage, Waterhouses, Near The Peak District
Sparrow Cottage, a gorgeous and charming terraced cottage, combining comfort, natural beauty with a touch of rustic charm, situated in the village of Waterhouses in Staffordshire, nestled on the edge of the Peak District. Whilst being in a village location, Sparrow Cottage rural walks are literally just across the road. Fabulously dog friendly walks, miles and miles of beautiful country walks for you to enjoy at your own pace.
The Manifold Way (also known as the Manifold Track) follows the route of the disused Manifold Light Railway through the Manifold and Hamps Valley from Hulme End to Waterhouses. The track is surface and relatively flat throughout its length, making it ideal for wheelchair users ,buggies or prams or those who have limited mobility. Watch out for the rivers Manifold and Hamps as they disappear beneath the pourous limestone and reappear in Ilam Country Park. Climb the steps of Thors Cave (250ft above the track) amd climb above to take in the most spectacular views of the Peak District at its very best
Sparrow Cottage has comfortable and spacious living room with a cosy log burner. There is a secure courtyard ( no grass). Having the walks literally on your doorstep is just perfect for your pack.

The courtyard is 1.2 metres high (minimum) and stone walls, There is a dog that lives in the adjoining cottage but you will hear very little if nothing at all You can also access the cottage from this courtyard

Love the Gilberts –
Sparrow Cottage, you have been an absolute dream! So comfortable and cosy. The cake and eggs were a great surprise! We enjoyed cooking breakfasts in the morning and relaxing by the fire.
Visited the local pub and could not have felt more welcome.
We took our puppy on the Roaches Walk – 3 hour walk as well as Hortington (3.5 hours)
Thank you so so much, such a wonderful find and we shall be back!
