For those living within Europe – and not wanting to holiday outside of Europe – Algarve city break is a destination to consider. Situated at the south of Portugal, the Algarve attracts millions of tourists every year, all looking to relax in its warm white sandy beaches and clear blue seas.

Where to stay is a big decision as there are so many Algarve hotels to pick from. Hotels in The Algarve range from cheap and cheerful places to spend as little time as possible, or lavishly expensive suites in Algarve hotels that offer the very best that money can buy. If all you want to do is change close and grab a couple of hours sleep between the bar closing and the sun rising, then you’ll find many hotels in the Algarve where basic necessity comes at an affordable price.

Another experience not to be missed is the Algarve beaches.

Around the ‘capital’ of the Algarve, Faro there’s a lot to do. A mix of Arab and Roman architecture, there’s something for everyone in the area, with the beautiful Nossa Senhora do Carmo, a church in the ‘Arabian’ section of the city boasting some of the finest gold leaf, and religious iconography in the region.

An eight hectare park, it offers incredible value and a lot of education and fun. Lagos Zoo is another worthwhile place to visit, with lots of interesting habitats and creatures. If your kids love exploring rocks and caves, then the west coast has many eroded sandstone features that have formed into grottos and mini gorges and stacks.

After such a tough day on the greens, your vacation rental will be a welcome haven, a tough days recreation followed by the splendour of a Portugal villa.

Lounging by the swimming pool under the Orange evening’s sun as it blends in to a red sunset.

For those who want to break away from the norm and experience an adrenaline rush during their holiday, extreme sports holidays could be exactly what you’re looking for.

From surfing to sky-diving, kayaking to kite-surfing and any kind of activity you use a board for. Extreme sports holidays offer the chance to do something a little different during your trip abroad.

Byron Bay
A magnificent seaside town located in Norther New South Wales and home to the most eastern point of Australia. Back in the dream time period of Australian History, Byron Bay was known as Cavvanbah and was a place for the native Australian Aborigines to congregate swap stories, find marriage partners and trade goods. Now Byron Bay is a tourism magnet to backpackers and people looking for a small beach town holiday. Home to some of Australia’s best music festivals, they include the East Coast Blues & Roots Music Festival and Splendor In The Grass. Byron Bay is also a very popular whale watching destination during the winter migration of the Humpback Whale.

Mt Tamborine
Mt Tamborine is located high above the Gold Coast on a plateau within the Gold Coast Hinterland. Mt Tamborine has developed a booming tourism industry thanks to the increasing popularity of its locally owned and unique restaurants, accommodation options and health and spa retreats. For nature lovers and hikers Mt Tamborine also has a number of well cared for trials that snake through rainforest, past cliffs, waterfalls and across trickling streams full of life. Some of the well known tracks include Curtis Falls rainforest track, the Knoll. Mt Tamborine also host a very popular town market that is held on the second Sunday of every month.

Airlie Beach
A part of the Whitsunday Region in QLD, Australia and a departure point to the wold famous Great Barrier Reef, Airlie Beach is slowly steeping out of the shadows as a tourist destination with a lot to offer. Airlie Beach is also known for its deadly marine stingers, such as the Box Jellyfish. To combat this problem, the local council has build a protected area/lagoon on the foreshore to allow taking a swim a safe activity all year round. If you planning on visiting Airlie Beach, plan to be in town for the Blessing Of The Feet Festival started by Father Keith Felgate on Whit Sunday or Pentecost Sunday.

Blue Mountains
One of Australia’s most mountainous areas in New South Wales, just outside of Sydney. Rising to 1,190 m above sea level it is home to seven national parks and conservation reserves. The fourth area in New South Wales to be listed as a World Heritage Area by UNESCO on the 29th of November, 2000. The area is approximately 10,000km square and is rich with Aboriginal culture and history, spectacular waterfalls, pictures sandstone cliffs and of course the blue haze that can be seen from a distance looking down the valleys and is of course how the area got its name.

Yamba
In 2009 Yamba was voted the number 1 town in Australia by the Australian Traveller Magazine. Located on the south side of the might clarence river, Yamba is a beautiful seaside holiday destination. The local culture of Yamba has been influenced over the years as its popularity as a sea-change destination for baby boomers and early retirees who prefer the slightly warner climate without the crowds of nearby places like the Gold Coast and Noosa. Yamba Accommodation is varied with something to suite every traveller. With the main local industry being fishing you have the freshest seafood available in Australia at restaurants or from the local fish and chip shop. Yamba is without doubt my favourite place to take a break in Australia and recharge the batteries.

The second hurdle in planning a trip, after deciding where to go, is what travel insurance fits best. Exploring new lands comes with its dangers, and it is important to be covered by it. It eases fears experienced during an accident, medical emergency, or even in cases of delayed trips or lost baggage.

Shopping for the right policy can become tiring, with all the offerings and providers to choose from. Reading its reviews helps you get a feel of what is available, and you can narrow your choices. With these reviews, you virtually eliminate information asymmetry and can make the most optimal decision based on data on hand.

When it comes to the people who are in charge of reviewing its policies, it will be wise for you to consider those who are travelers themselves. This will give you a feel for good and bad policies. Learning from other people’s lessons saves a lot of heartache and time.

Oftentimes, the first offer is not the best one. See how different options stack up against each other and get help from other customers. Do consider the providers, the cost of the premium, and of course the extent of the coverage.

You will not always find the best policy features with the most expensive packages. Anyone can find the right package, with extensive policy options, within his means. These advantages only come with travel insurance reviews.

In conducting your review, narrow it down to three to five companies. The second step is to browse their products and consumer feedback pages. To avoid the nightmare situation of being stuck abroad with no one to turn to, make sure you contract a good, respectable insurance provider.

The next and most natural step is to inquire about prices. It is acceptable to look for affordable policies, but it is absolutely not acceptable to compromise in terms of coverage. Lower prices do not necessarily mean less coverage or quality.

Therefore, you should scrutinize the extent of coverage offered by every provider. Its review is like a model showing you the fit of a policy as she walks down the runway. True to form, there are pricey policies with wide coverage and cheaper options that cost less.

Focus first on the features you want before jumping into the travel insurance review. Know how much of your financial resources you can dedicate to insurance. Once you’ve decided on these two matters, the rest is easy.

To ease the selection process, its review is there to help. Its reviews help you make the best, smartest choice. Never be fooled again into spending beyond your needs.

No wonder so many people from colder northern climes come here to live. Not just the European snow birds but there are plenty of those even from across the Atlantic.

In this part of Spain you have many outstanding locations for living and sailing.

Marbella, Puerto Banus, Benalmadena, Cabopino and Sotogrande just to name a few.

The short spring and long autumn seasons tend to merge gently together forming one with no real winter season.

The Mediterranean climate is also known as a ‘winter rainfall’ climate and other areas around the world with a similar sunshine and rainfall pattern are also said to have a Mediterranean climate.

These can be found in the central and southern coast of California which has an amazingly similar topography, the south-western cape of South Africa, central Chile and south-western Australia.

All areas which are defined as having a Mediterranean climate lie between 30-45 degrees latitude irrespective as to whether they are to the north or south of the equator

Rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain but in Andalucia there is usually very little rain between June and September but a reasonable amount of rain between October to March.

The prevailing Westerly wind comes from the Atlantic Ocean and therefore western Andalucia is naturally wetter than the eastern part.

The area to the west of Ronda, is known as the Sierra de Grazalema and this is the wettest area of Spain with just under 90 inches of rain per year.

Tarifa, (where we get the word Tarrif from) lies at Andalucia’s southernmost point where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean is a very windy spot indeed and is a haven for windsurfers here you can see the fantastic emerging city of Tangier rising on the distant sky line.

Tarifa dates back to Roman times and beyond.

The mountain ranges are much cooler than the plains and have a higher rainfall with some snow in winter. The Sierra Nevada Mountains, rising above 3000 metres, are covered in snow for much of the year.

There is a very considerable difference in the climate between the inland and coastal parts of Andalucia.

Near the sea temperatures are more temperate in winter and cooler than inland during the summer months. During the months from November to February Inland areas have cooler temperatures often falling many degrees below freezing but then there also very high temperatures during the summer months.

This is a great climate to enjoy and live in. One that is suited for the outdoor life and pursuits such as golf and sailing.

Article by PJ Lopez

Being the most visited holiday location in Europe it is no surprise that there are lots of holiday resorts along the Costa del Sol, some dating back to the rise of the package holiday in the late sixties, early seventies and some much newer, growing as a result of the continued popularity of the Costa del Sol as a holiday destination.

There are also some resorts that are not actually towns but residential holiday home complexes that have grown to become holiday resorts. The first such resort is called Club la Costa and this was started as a very popular and sought after timeshare complex. As it became more popular and more visited it grew and expanded to become a holiday resort offering everything from shops and restaurants to sporting facilities.

Nowadays the term timeshare is not used so much and the new concept is something called resort or holiday ownership where you essentially purchase a set period of holidays in a resort but can swap them with people who have done the same in other resorts. It is like blocking out a period of holidays every year for life.

Another area that started off as mainly timeshare then grew into a resort and eventually a town was Calahonda. These days it is a popular residential area as well as a holiday resort and there are lots of restaurants and bars as well as a busy commercial centre.

There are also some other resorts similar in concept to Club la Costa like the Alanda Club in Elviria and the new Marriot Resort Complex towards Estepona.

With the economy at its worst level from decades and mortgages increasingly difficult to obtain, many people are now turning to holiday or resort ownership as a way to own a bit of the Mediterranean sunshine.

The place is ideal for your preference, all the things you need are packed and with you, camera is full-charged and so ready to capture special moments and other important ...

The place is ideal for your preference, all the things you need are packed and with you, camera is full-charged and so ready to capture special moments and other important events, and the whole vibe is great, but the only factor in bad shape is YOU. Travelling is a great experience for anyone; it can be a venture to be audacious and discover new things, get in touch with new environment and people, a very important affair, or anything that is worth spending your time for, but in the event that there a big wall of hindrance blocks your productivity and enjoyment, it will surely ruin everything.

Say for an example, the traveller’s diarrhoea, it is the most common illness attacking backpackers from developed countries spending a matter of days or weeks in developing parts of the world, and regarded as every traveller’s enemy, thinking that the risk is very high (estimates vary from 30 to 80% of travelers).

So, what is diarrhoea or traveller’s diarrhoea in the first place? Well basically, this condition is characterized by increased frequency of loose bowel movements or stools in 24-hour period matched with abdominal cramps, bloating, toilet urgencies, nausea, vomiting, mild fever and even blood in stools for some serious cases (or dysentery). It is acquired through ingestion of contaminated food or drinks that is spread by poor hygiene. The microorganisms responsible for traveller’s diarrhoea range from bacteria to viruses to parasites, and they are the following: Escherichia coli (E. coli)—which is the primary cause of this illness approximates 40% of all cases, Salmonella, Shigella, Campylobacter, Rotavirus, Norovirus and Giardia.

The reason why travelers from industrialized or developed countries are more prone to this illness is because of the drastic and rapid change in the type of organisms in their gastrointestinal tract, wherein these organisms responsible for TD is basically alien to them since they are not present in the environment they are used to. Meanwhile, developing countries, which are the high-risk areas, such as Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Central and Southern America find these organisms harmless, which can be presumably because they have gained immunity on them.

Because of this kind of case, remember that prevention is your best weapon. Equip yourself with enough knowledge you’ll need to protect yourself, practice the basics yet important principle of good hygiene, and see to it to cook your food properly especially the meats, poultry and seafood, handle and prepare the foods properly, and avoid risky foods and risky areas to eat. It is also important that you pack antimotility medications, oral rehydration solutions and antibiotics along with you just to prepare when the sudden onset of traveller’s diarrhoea occurs.

Many people who tried Travelan have experienced a diarrhoea free trip and noticed a significantly less cramps and symptoms. If you want to know how it can help to lessen the occurrence of bali belly check out Travelan on travelan.com.au.
